Congrats! National Convention Center Project Phase 2 (Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games MMC) was officially put into use
Beijing 2022 committed to hosting “Green, Inclusive, Open and Clean” games.
On 4th July of 2021, the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) project of Main Media Center (MMC) of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics Games was officially handed over to Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS).
The Main Media Center (MMC) of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics is composed of two functional areas: the International BroadcastingCenter (IBC) and the Main Press Center (MPC), of which the International Broadcasting Center would be served as the Olympic Broadcasting Company (OBS) ,used by the match-time work headquarters of all rights-holding broadcasters.
Design Concept
The main body of second phase of the National Convention Center project, where the main media center of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics is located, was designed by Christiande Portzamparc, a famous French architect and Pritzker Prize winner. The "Kunpeng Spreading Wings" structure, matched with its "flock ofbirds" ("The eaves of building spread wings like birds flying."(from "The Book of Songs?Xiaoya") ,"flock of birds" is an unique exterior curtain wall shape image of the National Convention Center Phase 2 )The exterior curtain wall shape demonstrates the design concept of "harmonious symbiosis between architecture andnature".
Craftsmanship
As an important window to showcase China at the national level, the NationalConvention Phase 2 not only embodies the style and charm of the oriental mannerin the architectural concept, but also shows its uniqueness in details.
The facade of the curtain wall supplied by Winsom uses special-shaped (flat four-sided, trapezoidal) honeycomb panels as the curtain wall decoration. The changeable honeycomb panel shape makes the facade simple andfull of changes. It is matched with the special curtain wall unit-bird window,which makes the main body of the building appear natural and agile.
In order to demonstrate the national quality, high standards and strict requirements were adopted as the acceptance criteria at the beginning of the project construction. For this reason, owners, curtain wall teams, and consulting companies often move around in the processing plants of suppliers at all levels. They also have strict requirements for our aluminum honeycomb panels in terms of product appearance, dimensional accuracy, production technology, and finished packaging. Fortunately, Winsom has lived up to expectations and successfully completed the supply with high quality!
