Winsom Successfully Signed Shijiazhuang Metro Line 2 Phase I Project

On August 26 of 2020, Shijiazhuang Metro Line 2 Phase I was officially opened for operation. It is the third metro line in Shijiazhuang City. The first phase of Metro Line 2 has a total length of 15.5 kilometers and a total of 15 stations, of which 9 are standard stations, another 3 are keystations, and the rest of 3 are special stations. This north-south metro makes "International zhuang" a step closer to an "international" metropolis, which has great significance to the strategic layout of Shijiazhuang's transportation, urban space expansion, and regional economic development. It’s a small part of the metro, but this is a big step for the"International Zhuang".

All coexist and accommodate eachother

The metro Line 2 was invested and constructed by China Railway Group. It is a north-south main line in the planning of Shijiazhuang's rail transit network, passing Shijiazhuang city center. As the decoration and design unit of Line 2--Nanjing Huaxiatiancheng Construction Co., Ltd continued the style of "white tone, simple and lively" in the overall decoration, focusing on the theme of "ancient charm new city, beautiful Shijiazhuang". Based on the historical and cultural characteristics of the surrounding environment and according to the geographical location and structural type of the stations, the stations are divided into three types: standard station, featured station and key station as the function. Featured stations and key stations are designed under the guidance of conceptual themes, combined with the characteristics of the station type, the characteristics of surrounding environment, and the cultural attributes of surrounding areas, extracting traditional cultural elements and Shijiazhuang modern architectural vocabulary, highlighting the site space and surrounding culture and regional culture, showing the city image of Shijiazhuang.

The metro Line 2 has 3 key stations (Beiguo Shopping Mall Station, Yuhua Road Station, Shijiazhuang Station) and 3 special stations (Jianheqiao Station, Chang'an Park Station, Zhuangyu-Tiedao University Station), with fashionable elements costume streamers as the matrix form, the Beiguo Shopping Mall station showing the cultural theme of "fashion blooming". Based on the cultural positioning of "transportation hub", extracting the design elements from Zhaozhou Bridge and Shijiazhuang Railway Station,Shijiazhuang Station is ingeniously integrated with the architectural form of Shijiazhuang High-speed Railway Station and the nostalgic image elements. Using textile and weaving elements to innovate and interpret Jianhe Bridge Station,which was once an important national textile base. Chang'an Park Station, which uses "lotus pond" and "water patterns" elements to visually outline important city symbols around. Zhuangyu Railway University Station,which uses rocks, tunnels, and track morphological elements to interpret the cultural theme of "Continuing the Past and Opening the Future" of Railway University. The design plan specially transforms the various stations serving the subway into historical and cultural elements, highlighting the colorful picture of the integration of traditional cultural elements and modern architecture.

The old and the new blend together

As a public facility, the subway is based on human scale & activities and aesthetic requirements.

The Line 2 is filled with many design highlights and humanistic feelings. It is the first time to try the "naked decoration" design concept of "less decoration, high headroom" in public areas, reduce the decoration of the top pillars, and build a simple,bright, open and magnificent subway station.

Winsom design team provides personalized services based on the general theme concept. Although each station uses modular method to construct and adopts standardized design elements, the station signs of featured stations and key stations use different elements to fit the deep historical deposits of the area and the openness of modern new city. Four stations that Winsom supplied has standard stations and key stations to show the image of Shijiazhuang city, including Yuancun Station, Ouyun Park Station, Huaizhong Road Station, Yuhua Road Station.

Shijiazhuang opera art has a long tradition and distinctive local operas, such as Hebei Bangzi, Pingju, Sixian, Zhuozi Opera,Old Tune, XidiaoYangkoabd etc., Yuhua Road Station is a key station with concentrated artistic atmosphere.

The station is located at the intersection of Yuhua Road and Jianshe Street, surrounded by Hebei Bangzi Theater, Pei Yanling Theater,and Hebei Art School. Therefore, the overall decoration design is characterized by the elements of "Opera", using the "water sleeves" of the opera as the image and expressing with free hand and lyrical techniques. Entering the station, what you see first is the simple and bright ceiling. This part of the ceiling is composed of flat aluminum plates, aluminum circle tube, aluminum square tube, aluminum stretched mesh panel, and molding panels. They seem simple,but under the "naked decoration" design concept of "less decoration, high headroom" and careful combination, designer combined carefully to make the subway space station present a distinctive decorative effect.

First of all, in addition to aluminum flat plates, aluminum circle pipe, and aluminum square tube same as other standard stations,Yuhua Road Station use brown-yellow modeling panels to echo the rich artistic of surrounding. The unique shape is derived from the "sea water and river cliff pattern" on the cuffs and hem of the opera python robe, which implies the beautiful hope of “fortune and long lives”. In order to ensure the perfect presentation of pattern, Winsom adopts CNC processing to ensure the precision, high efficiency and delivery.

Secondly, a bright spot in the top design of Yuhua Road Station, the mosaic rainbow belt is used as the ceiling. "Champagnegold" is the logo color of line 2, which is based on the color in each station. Yuhua Road Station boldly adds rainbow colors, just like colorful costumes.

There are six art hanging fans under the ceiling.This final scheme is based on many rounds of reports from designer and feasible suggestions from Winsom according to experience.

It is composed of stainless steel honeycomb panel with double-sided mirror surface, honeycomb panel with double-sided UV printing pattern, decorative metal flower with plum blossom shape, and stainless steel frame seal with bronzing hairline pattern. 

Through screen printing and heat transfer printing, colorful phoenix crown "quintessence", "traditional opera", plum blossom pattern and other opera elements are presented on the coated surface of other two honeycomb panel. The patterns are clear and fastness. The combination of these materials must strictly ensure the accuracy of size, so that they can be assembled perfectly. It is the designer's creative ideas that made the ceiling of Yuhua Road Station achieve an extraordinary and shocking artistic effect.

Finally, the common (perforated) aluminum flat panels, aluminum circle pipe, aluminum square tube and other decorative panels are also strictly implemented in accordance with technical specifications to ensure high product quality and pass the project acceptances moothly.

Besides, the dimensions of lamp holes and equipment switches have been reserved during processing in the factory. Panels can be installed directly on site without any secondary processing, which ensures the installation effect and shorten installation time. For the equipment and lines above the suspended ceiling to be overhauled and maintained in the later stage, Winsom design team also specially made some ceiling panels in an openable way, which is convenient for maintenance and does not affect the normal operation of metro.

The smooth operation of Shijiazhuang Metro Line 2 marks the initial completion of rail transit network in the central urban area of Hebei Province. As the image of Shijiazhuang city culture, metro become the name card to show the city Like the green logo of Shijiazhuang metro, the concept of green and sustainable urban construction coincides with the concept of green and environment friend building materials of Winsom.
