Winsom Signed the Project of PhaseⅡ of National Convention Center
Recently, Winsom successfully signed the project of National Convention Center PhaseⅡ, which will provide customized aluminum honeycomb panels apply to curtain wall decoration. This will be another landmark project in Beijing after the completion of Beijing Daxing International airport in 2019.
National Convention Center PhaseⅡis located at Beijing Olympic Center, with a total building area of about 770,000 square meters, the main building consists of three floors above ground, with 19,000 square meters of exhibition hall, 8,000 square meters of conference hall, and 2,000 square meters of reception hall. National Convention Center PhaseⅡ will become significantpart of facility of the capital’s international communication center and foreign affairs site and undertake important tasks of the main press center and international broadcasting center of Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2022. In the future, it will connect with National Convention Center PhaseⅠ, forming a exhibition complex with total scale of nearly 1.3 billion square meters.
The National Convention Center PhaseⅡ is designed by the Pritzker Prize winning Architect Mr. Bausambach of France.The overall shape is calm and stretch, like a Kunpeng spreading wings, having the bearing and posture of National Convention Center. At the east elevation of building, a superlarge-scale hyperbolic bird curtain wall is innovatively designed to show the effect of light and shadow floating. And the south elevation is irregular hyperboloid unit curtain wall. The roof is straight up and curved down of roof to form elegant lines and echo with National Conference Centerphase I, but different.
As an important window to show China, the National Convention Center PhaseⅡ not only embodies the style and charm of oriental country in architectural concept, but also shows unique in the details. What Winsom supply for curtain wall decoration are irregular shaped (quadrilateral and trapezoid) honeycomb panels, various honeycomb panel shapes make the facade simple and variable. Of course, the rich shapes increase the difficulty coefficient in processing.
