Sun louver | Pharmacy & Science Laboratory Building, University of Saint Thomas, Philippines
St. Thomas University is one of the four famous universities in the Philippines. Founded on January 27, 1611, St. Thomas University is the oldest university in Asia and the largest Catholic University with a single campus in the world.
The buildings of St. Thomas University are mostly classical with a strong European style. However, the newly-built Pharmacy & Science Laboratory Building has more modernity and technological sense, which implies the coexistence of modern and ancient. It adopts gray and yellow as main colors.The application of warm-toned and cool tone collides to create a distinctive decorative style.
The gray facade is composed of Winsom EIC25A aluminum honeycomb panel curtain wall system. The metal panel with high flatness is solemn and simple, full of modern sense. Gray tone gives people a harmonious, soft visual sense. The surface of EIC25A aluminum honeycomb panel adopts pre-coated PVDF coating with excellent color retention which make building’s appearance maintains a lasting and bright decorative effect. Fastener installation is easy and quick and fully consider the demand of thermal movement to ensure the decorative surface maintain high flatness.
The yellow facades adds a linear design and forms a strong contrast with gray one, making the entire decorative surface more plump and three-dimensional. The line part is composed of Winsom SS306F aerofoil sun louvers with the function of beautiful decoration and sunshade. SS306F aerofoil sun louvers are installed with fixed method to install and arranged on two adjacent walls. After careful dimension control and styling design, the adjacent sun louvers at the corner are perfectly spliced and smoothly transitioned to make the whole corner lines neat and straight. In order to make the decorative lines more continuous and smoother, Winsom optimized and improved installation system of sun louver, and specially developed a clamp type fixed method according to design requirements. The continuous decorative effect on two adjacent walls improves the overall sense and aesthetic extent of the building as well.
