Project Overview
Riyadh Metro Line 3 is the longest segment of the new metro network in the capital of Saudi Arabia. It comprises 22 stations (including iconic downtown and western stations), 2 depots, and 6 park-and-ride facilities. The line stretches from the west (near Jeddah Highway) to the east (near Khashm El-Aam National Guard Camp).
The Riyadh Metro project is the backbone of the public transportation system in the Saudi capital Riyadh, and is currently the world's largest and most luxurious public transportation system under development.
Therefore, in the design of the subway station, the space design theme is adopted, and the overall appearance of the subway station will evoke the unique sand wave shape of this country, which can be described as ingenious. Under the unique appearance of the subway station, it also has practical functions, which can retain light while effectively blocking strong desert sunlight.
Winsom provides 3mm perforated aluminum panels for Riyadh Metro Line 3, mainly used for the exterior facade of above ground subway stations. The Winsom technical team, taking into account factors such as local solar radiation intensity and angle in Riyadh, provided a solution for the project to use perforated aluminum plates. Each plate is irregularly arranged with six different aperture circular holes, with a minimum aperture of 12mm and a maximum aperture of 124mm.
At the same time, the Winsom technical team carefully considered the installation details of the perforated aluminum plate and provided a design with hidden reinforcement ribs. This not only meets the requirements of perforated pattern design but also wind load requirements, and effectively avoids the problem of exposed reinforcement ribs affecting aesthetics. It can be said to be a win-win situation.
