Xiamen BRT Rapid Transit System

Date:2025-04-01

The Xiamen BRT project began construction in 2008. Its Line 1 comprises 19 elevated stations, with the highest point of the stations reaching approximately 36 meters above ground. Due to the fully transparent design of the station canopies, the wind load on the roof is 5-6 times higher than in conventional environments. Winsom provided the EIC25A-J10S Narrow-Gap, Full-Arc Aluminum Honeycomb Panel Exterior Wall System, which features large-format, integrally formed arc-shaped aluminum honeycomb panels (maximum size: 7m×1.3m). This system effectively addressed the technical challenge of balancing positive and negative wind pressure while delivering a durable decorative effect that remains intact and aesthetically pleasing after years of use.

Key Technical Highlights:

The aluminum honeycomb panels offer high strength-to-weight ratio (6kg/m2) and wind resistance up to 9100MPa .

The narrow-gapped design ensures high flatness and anti-deformation performance, optimized through advanced jointing and installation techniques.

Project Significance:

As a pioneering BRT system in China, Xiamen BRT adopted elevated structures and dedicated lanes from its inception, setting national standards for rapid transit integration. Winsom’s solution not only met the structural demands of high-altitude, high-wind environments but also contributed to the system’s iconic, long-lasting architectural design .
