The design of the spatial units draws direct inspiration from the traditional Chinese mortise and tenon joint, an ancient architectural technique that has been revered for millennia. This time-honored system embodies the ancients' profound understanding of mechanical principles and deep appreciation for aesthetic art.

This high-profile collaboration between two renowned brands placed extreme importance on every material decision. Honeycomb panels were chosen as the main decorative material across large areas. For the stainless steel honeycomb panels specifically, Alibaba and China Resources engaged in a thorough selection process, ultimately deciding on SUS316 stainless steel due to its exceptional performance.

SUS316 provides significantly better corrosion resistance than the standard SUS304, especially under demanding conditions like high heat, humidity, and salt exposure – which is why it is frequently used in coastal buildings. Since parts of the project are outdoors and will face long-term exposure, using SUS316 is a strategic choice to guarantee the building’s lasting durability and stability.
